The MMK Collection

Focal points of the MMK Collection

The core of the holdings is constituted by works from the former Ströher Collection, which focuses on American Pop Art and Minimalism. In addition to these movements of the 1960s, the MMK also documents the art of the 1980s and 1990s with a large selection of works by artists such as Rosemarie Trockel, Katharina Fritsch, Hanne Darboven, Andreas Slominski, Thomas Bayrle, Thomas Ruff, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Gerhard Richter, Bruce Nauman, Robert Gober, Sturtevant, and many others. Moreover, the MMK also broadens the mission of a modern art museum by reaching directly into the present, with outstanding works by international artists as Francis Alÿs, Maurizio Cattelan, Thomas Demand, Douglas Gordon, Marlene Dumas, Teresa Margolles, Gregor Schneider, Wolfgang Tillmans, and many others.
